Oak, Swamp White 1-0 (Quercus bicolor)
Swamp white oak grows best in full sun with wet acidic soil. It has the potential to grow 60 to 80 feet tall with an irregular-shaped crown. It does not grow well in permanent flooded areas but grows great in riparian areas. Acorns are produced in the fall that are very sweet and are desired squirrels, deer, bear, turkey and many birds. Being a white oak species, swamp white oak lumber is important and desired.
