Honey locust is a fast-growing tree that can reach heights of 30 to 70 feet with a canopy spread of 30 to 70 feet. It can tolerate wide range of soils from acidic, alkaline, dry or moist. Honey bees are attracted to the flowers during the spring time as a great nectar source. Honey Locust produces big seed pods with sweet seeds that are cherished by livestock, rabbits, deer and squirrels. The term Honey refers to the sweet substance found in the seed pods.
